The plane landed 13:40, right on time. We had been warned about the serbian mafia guys in the airport taxis by Vladan and, yes, they were rough. But we manage to negotiate an acceptable price and went straight to Vladans cousin in the outskirts of Belgrade. This is where the bus is hosted. He ws very friendly and greeted us with some home made apfelschnaps. Hooray! The bus looked good when we first saw it, like it had gone into hibernation over the winter. Well, we don’t know much more since noone knows where the key to the padlock on the door is. One thing you learn from travelling - it’s the minor details that matter…

Force. One way of opening cheap padlocks. It was only there for show anyway, the bus isn’t very secure. As for other keys, this summer we swapped the electricity key for a regular pencil and hacked the ignition with a coat-hanger.

Good news! The bus says *vroom, vroom*! The old timer still got it. Time for relaxation and celebration - Belgrade style!

Some help from Vladan and Vlidi.

A hazy nightly Belgrade is spent on non-descriptive pubs and clubs. The bass gets stronger from every hour. A bunch of Slovenians is playing guitar at our hostel. They’re here for some guitar festival where Sting is playing. You never know who you will meet in this city. S23X met serbian folk music flute players, roma street children yelling Kopimi, an actor that played in Kusturicas films and an othodox priest that was a sworn enemy to all technology. And that’s just in ONE day…
